Back in Black... and pink!

Yes, I finally decided to blog about my life... it's been TOO LONG!  Way too long!

Today I ran 5k in a pink tutu for the Toronto CIBC Run for the Cure 2008 to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  Since 2 out of my very bestest 10 friends at IBM have battled breast cancer, this run was personal.  I ran for them.

Pink tutu

It was great day... we were at least 50,000 strong as we ran through the streets of downtown Toronto.  Many ran, many more walked.  All for the same goal... to end breast cancer.

There is always a personal story as to why you run.  I ran for my good friends Bridget and Debbie, both survivors of breast cancer.  Some signs said they ran for their Mom, some in memory of someone special and many men ran for ALL BREASTS out there!

I'm honoured that I can run.  Every run is a gift.

Monster Mash

Getting ready for a ghoulishly good feast!  Made Witch's Fingers yesterday... will be serving them in Matthew's Monster Mash ceramic cup and bowl he painted several years ago @ Bayview Resort.

BOO!

Aren't they BOO-tiful!?  Love these spooky little ghost brownies!  I cannot take credit; I first saw them here and knew I had to make them!  I made the brownie base yesterday, and assembled the marshmallow and icing ghost in the evening.  BOO!

It's been a whole year :(

She has been gone a year tonight.  One year ago I rushed her to the emergency veterinary clinic but it was too late.  Her battle with diabetes among other unknowns (kidney, liver disorders) was just too much.  In the weeks preceeding her seizure, I knew I was losing her.  Her spirit was gone, she didn't jump up on my chair to cuddle.  I didn't know our time was to come to an end, but when it did, I knew.  I knew it was time to let her go.

I held her and told her I loved her.  I held her as she slipped away.  I still have her ashes.  She was an indoor kitty, and so she shall remain.

I still miss her.  So much!  I miss her little "brrrrrup!" noises, her contented grunts, her purrs in my ear.  I miss her soft fur and the funny, scrunched up face she made when I tickled her chin.  I miss how she persistently demanded treats._mg_1424_copy   I miss her gentle spirit and kind face.  I miss her rough kisses and wiffing in my ear.  I miss her early morning yowls.

I miss her wise and calm influence.  She knew what was important; a good meal, a bed to call your own and someone special to cuddle with.

I miss you little one.  Very much.

To infinity and beyond!

Some Moms get breakfast in bed and little notes, but I get finger drawn love notes left on the steamy bathroom mirror!  I just love this picture.  First, the message is *SO* like Matthew.  Once he was pretty confident with his times tables, he would quiz us back.  He would throw out multiplication equations all the time; in the grocery line, during dinner, bathtime, stopped at a red light... For some reason 5x5 is his favourite and most often used.  The concept of infinity intrigues him as he attempts to wrap his brain around the mind-blowing idea of it all.  I guess I will be loved forever 25 times over...  How lucky can a Mom get?
